Who is CalmMessage for?

Anyone navigating high-conflict communication where a message can escalate faster than intended: co-parenting, family, coworkers, any relationship where the stakes are high enough that you're rereading a text three times before sending it.

How does CalmMessage work?

Your message is analyzed by an AI model tuned specifically for emotionally charged communication. It reads the message and picks the right approach: de-escalate, set a boundary, or shorten, then returns a rewrite, usually within a few seconds. How is this different from just pasting my message into ChatGPT?

CalmMessage lives inside iMessage. No switching apps, no copy and paste. It's also built specifically for high-conflict communication rather than general writing help. It decides how to rewrite based on what's actually happening in your message, not just that you asked it to.

How does CalmMessage decide which mode to use?

It reads the emotional temperature of your message, whether there's a clear ask, and how long it is. Accusatory or heated language triggers de-escalate. Over-apologizing or an unclear boundary triggers set boundary. Long, repetitive messages trigger shorten. You can switch modes yourself if it doesn't read the moment right.

Can you tune the style or tone of the rewrite?

CalmMessage reads your message and picks the right approach automatically. Manual tone controls aren't necessary. That's the point.

What if the rewrite gets it wrong?

You always see the rewrite next to your original before anything sends. If it doesn't sound right, edit it, try another mode, or send your message as written. Nothing goes out without you approving it first.

Using CalmMessage

What if I don't like the rewrite?

Edit it, ask for a different mode, or send your original instead. Tap Start over and your original message is still there to try again. You're always in control of what gets sent.

How long can my message be?

500 characters, roughly 80 to 100 words. Longer messages are usually a good candidate for Shorten mode, which trims length while keeping the key points.

What if there's swearing in my message?

The rewrite removes profanity and replaces it with direct, calm language that keeps your point intact. It's built to handle heated language without moralizing. It cleans up the words, not the meaning.

You mentioned a pause before sending. Can I send right away?

Yes. The review screen includes a way to send immediately without waiting out the full pause.

Can I use CalmMessage in a group chat?

Yes, it works the same as any other iMessage conversation.

Can the other person tell I used CalmMessage?

No. The rewritten message sends as a completely normal iMessage. No watermark, no footer, no indication it passed through the app.

Pricing & billing

Do I need a credit card to sign up?

No. You can join the waitlist and try CalmMessage without entering payment information. A card is only needed once your free trial ends.

Is there a discount for an annual subscription?

Yes, the annual plan works out to a lower monthly rate than paying month to month.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes. Cancel your subscription at any time through the App Store. Your access continues through the end of the current billing period.

If I subscribe, do I get a refund if I cancel?

Subscriptions are managed through the App Store, so Apple's standard refund policy applies.

Privacy & security

Are my messages encrypted?

Yes. Everything is sent over an encrypted connection. Your message text is processed to produce a rewrite and isn't retained on our servers after that.

Do you share my information with anyone?

No. We don't sell your data or share it with advertisers. We don't store your message content or attach it to your identity. Only anonymized, non-identifying usage data is kept to help us improve the product. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Can I delete my account and my data?

Yes. Settings ↗ includes a Delete Account option that permanently removes your profile and associated records from our servers.

Account & access

Does CalmMessage work on Android?

CalmMessage is available on iPhone now, built as an iMessage extension. An Android version is in development.

Do both people in a conversation need the app?

No. One or both sides of a conversation can use CalmMessage. If the other person doesn't have it, they still see your message normally through iMessage.

How hard is it to switch over from regular Messages?

It isn't a switch. CalmMessage lives inside iMessage as an extension. Your Messages app doesn't change.
